I tried Boots £48 Elizabeth Arden beauty box and one product made my face feel like silk

Mar 20, 2023

The night cream moisturiser is worth £70 alone making the rest of the contents essentially free

Boots have launched yet another beauty box that will save shoppers a fortune on skincare this summer. The high street retailer has collaborated with the beloved cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden to bring beauty lovers a money-saving haul of products that will leave skin feeling like they’ve had a professional facial.

Anyone who has used or lusted over Elizabeth Arden products in the past will know that their lotions and potions don't exactly come cheap, with many of their moisturisers costing upwards of £30. As such, I was immediately surprised to see that the box was priced at a surprisingly purse-friendly £48.

Launched on May 24, the carefully curated edit contains the high-end brand's most iconic and sought-after products, the Mirror reports.

The online exclusive beauty box contains five premium Elizabeth Arden products with a total value of more than £115 - with one cream valued at £70 alone. The full-size anti-ageing cream is worth more than the whole cost of the box, making everything else essentially free.

Now, £70 is not the kind of money I would ever drop on a moisturiser, but after trying the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lift and Firm Night Moisturiser, I understood just why people were willing to, while feeling equally smug that this beauty haul means you snag it for £22 less alongside a host of additional travel size samples.

Here's everything featured inside the box:

Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant 30ml - worth £17

ADVANCED Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules 7pc (deluxe sample)

Retinol Night Ceramide Capsules 7pc (deluxe sample)

Ceramide Lift and Firm Day Moisturiser SPF 15 5ml (deluxe sample)

Ceramide Lift and Firm Night Moisturiser (full size) - worth £70

The contents are worth a whopping £116.67, making a saving of around 59 per cent, and it's the perfect kit to prep your skin for the summer months. But honestly, I’d buy it again just so I could get the night cream for less, because it's truly one of the most stunning skincare products to have ever graced my face - and I’ve tried a LOT.

On the Boots website, the cream has more than 1,300 five star reviews, with shoppers saying it ‘works like magic’.

One said: "I have combination skin and it did magic on my dull skin." While another added: "I really love this cream, absolutely works its magic. Will be definitely purchasing another round."

Coming in a luxe gold packaging, the 50ml moisturiser is an ultra-rich cream that feels like applying silk to your skin. Fairly fragrance free, the cream glides across the skin and feels immediately hydrating, which is perfect for dry skin girlies.

I would be very cautious to say that I saw instant results after using the night cream before bed, however, my skin felt incredible, looked supple and glowing, and appeared more plump. In fact, it almost looked the same as when I’ve been for a professional facial, which is very difficult to achieve with a collection of £5 products that have been in the cupboard for longer than I care to admit.

It's said to visibly lift, firm and define facial contours in just one week, and I was thrilled with how it looked and felt on the skin after just one application, so I’m very much looking forward to using this long-term.

Another wonder-product un Elizabeth Arden's sleeve is the innovative Eight Hour Cream, a multitasking product that works wonders for dry, chapped skin. Praised by makeup artists and beauty influencers around the globe, has racked up more than 2,300 five star reviews and having finally tried it, it's easy to see why it's held to such high status.

The orange-coloured balm is a do-all ailment that can be used on the skin, face and hands to soothe dry skin or help heal scrapes, but can also be used to tame unruly brows, keep flyaways at bay, or to add a dewy glow to a natural makeup look.

While the tube inside the box is a 30ml sample size, it's ideal for taking away on holiday, throwing in your purse or popping in the glovebox for on-the-go use.

I was much less keen on the Ceramide Lift and Firm Day Moisturiser SPF 15, because despite being part of the same range as the night moisturiser, the consistency of the cream wasn't as smooth and luxe, and it appeared to have a scent that I wasn't keen on, unlike the night version.

However, I really enjoyed the ADVANCED Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules, which hold a phenomenal amount of product, you could probably get away with using half and making the sample last longer. Coming in a tube of seven, this is again a great product if you’re going away on holiday and have limited space.

The final product in the box is the Retinol Night Ceramide Capsules, which are a targeted treatment to visibly diminish lines and wrinkles while improving skin texture and tone, and feel just as soft and satiny as the Hyaluronic Acid version.

For me, Boots has once again succeeded in delivering a game-changing collaboration that won't break the bank. With the Elizabeth Arden beauty box priced at £48 it's worth it just for the night cream alone. While it's currently on offer on the Boots website for £56 - or £53.20 with the code EXTRA5, the box is still better value, coming in £5 cheaper with the additional products.

Not to mention that I’ll get to treat myself to a 15 minute in-store service with my voucher before the end of the year, too.

The Elizabeth Arden box is the third indulgent skincare collaboration that Boots has launched this year, previously launching a £55 skincare haul with Elemis, as well as a now sold out REN Skincare box.

They follow the success of their £40 Indiyah beauty box - which recently came back into stock - and the more recent Spring Skincare Edit, which were so popular they’re now out of stock.

But they’re not the only retailer to have launched these huge skincare hauls in recent weeks. Debenhams have also got their own version, which is worth nearly £200.

The Skin Discovery Beauty Box costs £30, and is bursting with the biggest names and must-have routine essentials, boasting the season's top picks for beauty beginners and gurus alike.

From serums to moisturisers and nourishing lip balms, the box sees a number of big name brands like Lancome, Elizabeth Arden and Dr Paw Paw that will help you get your skin in check ahead of the summer season.

Alternatively, LOOKFANTASTIC have got their Summer of Skin Edit, which is worth over £130. The box retails at £40, featuring nine iconic products - including five full sized - to give you that summer glow from brands such as, Piz Buin, Sol De Janeiro, Isle of Paradise and more.

The Boots x Elizabeth Arden skincare box allows customers to elevate their beauty routine at a much more affordable price point than usual, providing an all-encompassing pampering experience with the visible results to match. The box is exclusively available online and once it's sold out, we’re not sure when it will be back. You can shop the offer on the Boots website here.
